From Yo-Yo Dad to Showing Up Strong: My Real Journey to Sustainable Wellness & Longevity

As an active kid and high school athlete, I never worried about my weight. I could eat whatever I wanted and stay fit. That love for fitness carried me into college, a career as a strength & conditioning coach, and eventually personal training. I worked with everyone from beginners to D-1 athletes and celebrities.

What I saw over and over? Results depended on one thing: the ability to stick with it week after week. Some clients thrived. Many didn’t. No matter how good the program, consistency was the missing piece.

I moved into operating medical weight loss clinics. The short-term results were dramatically better than anything I’d seen in the gym. I tried the programs myself and dropped from over 215 lbs to 185 lbs. But when I stopped the medication, the weight came right back. I watched the same pattern happen with patients again and again.

Later, when GLP-1 medications became available, I tried them too. Results came, but they didn’t feel sustainable for me. Side effects appeared, especially with rushed dosing and lower protein intake.
